Salary: $18.00 per hour (Overtime: $27.00 per hour)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Cook to join our team at Dairy Queen Grill & Chill in Valleyview. The ideal candidate should have a passion for food preparation, a strong understanding of hygiene and safety regulations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role involves preparing a variety of food items while maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Food Preparation & Cooking
Prepare and cook food items according to Dairy Queen’s menu specifications and quality standards.
Ensure that all food items are made with consistency, accuracy, and within the required preparation times.
Maintain food presentation, portioning, and garnishing as per brand standards.
✅ Hygiene & Safety Compliance
Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
Follow proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients to prevent contamination.
Ensure all kitchen equipment and workstations are cleaned and sanitized regularly.
✅ Menu Specialties
Prepare Dairy Queen signature treats, including soft-serve ice cream cones, sundaes, Blizzards, and other menu items.
Handle food orders efficiently and accurately to provide quick service to customers.
✅ Teamwork & Kitchen Operations
Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Assist in training new kitchen employees on food preparation, safety, and company policies.
Help manage and organize kitchen inventory, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
✅ Quality Control & Customer Satisfaction
Monitor food quality and freshness, ensuring all dishes meet Dairy Queen’s standards.
Address any kitchen-related issues promptly to avoid delays in service.
Provide a positive customer experience through efficient and high-quality food preparation.
Qualifications & Skills:
✔ Experience: 6 months to 1 year of cooking experience preferred, but training will be provided.
✔ Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
✔ Food Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with food handling regulations and kitchen safety practices.
✔ Work Ethic: Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining quality.
✔ Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand for long periods, lift heavy ingredients/equipment, and work in a heated kitchen environment.
✔ Team Player: Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with colleagues efficiently.
✔ Attention to Detail: Precision in food preparation, portioning, and presentation.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
Shift: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
Overtime: Paid at $27.00 per hour for any work exceeding 44 hours per week or 8 hours per day.
Breaks: Entitled to a 30-minute meal break per shift.
Days Off: Two days off per week.
