Job Description

Overview:
Barrhead Home Hardware Building Centre is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic
Cashier/Customer Service Representative to join our Electrical Department team. In this
role, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, ensuring a positive shopping
experience by providing exceptional service and support. The ideal candidate will have
strong communication skills, a friendly attitude, and a passion for assisting customers with
their needs.

Key Responsibilities:
• Greet customers and assist them with inquiries in person and over the phone.
• Provide knowledgeable assistance regarding electrical products and services.
• Process sales transactions, receive payments, and handle cash, debit, and credit
card transactions accurately.
• Address customer complaints and inquiries, ensuring resolution in a professional
manner.
• Arrange for refunds, exchanges, and store credits as per company policies.
• Assist with credit and employment applications.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the cashier station and throughout the
department.
• Monitor stock levels in the electrical section and communicate restocking needs.
• Promote additional products and upsell when appropriate to enhance the customer
experience.

Qualifications & Skills:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Language: Proficiency in English (French not required).
• Strong customer service skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to analyze customer needs and provide appropriate solutions.
Experience with data entry and POS (Point of Sale) systems is an asset.
• Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive approach to upselling and improving customer satisfaction.

Additional Information:
• Pay: Overtime pay available.
• Work Schedule: Flexible hours, including weekends as needed.
• Work Location: In-person at Barrhead Home Hardware Building Centre.
