Responsibilities
Tasks
• Provide support and assistance to health-care staff by facilitating and leading recreational and
leisure activities designed for residents’ well-being.
• Assist in planning and implementing social and therapeutic programs (e.g., group games, arts &
crafts, music, exercise) under the guidance of recreation therapists or other health professionals.
• Help residents engage safely in activities, including providing physical assistance or using
adaptive equipment when necessary.
• Maintain and prepare recreational materials, supplies, and equipment for daily use, ensuring a
safe and orderly activity environment.
• Monitor residents during activities, observing their health, mood, and participation, and report
any concerns (e.g., changes in behaviour or mobility) to nursing staff
• Work with interdisciplinary care teams (nurses, therapists) to create individualized activity plans
based on resident needs and care goals.
• Document resident attendance, level of participation, and progress in recreational programs;
maintain records to support residents’ care plans and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with setting up and cleaning activity areas, and store equipment appropriately at the end of
sessions.
• Support volunteers or students in recreational programs, providing guidance where necessary.
• Identify and report opportunities to improve programs based on resident feedback and observed
engagement
